Jeske van Boxel is a PhD student at the department of Environmental Health and Toxicology at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VU). She will be researching the effects of microplastic on placental function and embryonic development to detect early-life health risks. Jeske obtained her BSc in Pharmaceutical Sciences and MSc in Drug Discovery and Safety with a focus on drug disposition and safety assessment. During her master’s internship, she looked into the effect of bisphenols on P2X7 receptor function and steroidogenesis in placental cells.
