Ali Mustafa Mohammed obtained his BSc in Pharmacy from Libya before pursuing his MSc and PhD in Toxicology at the University of Eastern Finland (UEF). During his MSc and PhD studies, he focused on investigating the fate of chemicals, particularly pesticides. This involved probing their metabolism, transplacental transfer, and toxic effects on placental enzymatic activities using various human placental methods. Currently, he holds a postdoctoral research position at UEF, where he is investigating the transplacental transfer of Integrase Strand Transfer Inhibitors, a class of HIV drugs, utilizing human placental perfusion method.
